Uston Advanced Plus-Minus

Ken Uston is one of the most renowned blackjack players of all time as well as one of the games most colorful characters. He started his playing as a part of a cohesive team in San Francisco and did so well that he quitted his job of the Vice President of the Pacific Stock Exchange to play blackjack for full time.

Uston wrote a number of books about blackjack strategies. Among those, the “Million Dollar Blackjack” probably be the most well received. This book was recognized as one of the premier texts of the game. Uston explained different blackjack system in his book. One of them was the Uston Simple plus minus system which was made for average blackjack players. The system was a primary level blackjack system which can do a great help in learning the basics of the game. By using Uston simple plus minus, a player can count the cards proficiently. Uston designed another system which was named as “Uston Advanced Plus-Minus”.

Uston advanced plus-minus is more complex than the simple plus minus system but the advanced system is more effective. Uston recommended the advanced plus minus for the professional player or players who have already mastered the simple plus minus system. In both systems, the card values are same but there are some big distinctions in between the two systems. One of the big differences is the variation of the strategies used in two systems. The playing efficiency of Uston advanced plus minus system measures at 0.55 which is not very satisfactory. With a betting efficiency of 0.95 the system is one of the bests in its level when compared to other one level count systems such as hi-Opt I and Wong High-Low. But it is certainly not powerful as the multi level blackjack count systems.
